Richie's incredible career has spanned over 25 years, and has
seen him sell over 50 million records and receive in excess
of 50 awards, including five Grammys, an Oscar and a Golden
Globe. Lionel Richie's career began 1967 with the formation
of The Mystics, who were renamed as The Commodores in 1969.
Following a signing with Motown in 1972, they soon made their
mark with their first LP release two years later. They continued
with their success throughout the rest of the decade, with Lionel
penning huge hits such as "Easy", "Sail On",
"Still" and "Three Times a Lady". This,
combined with sell-out live shows worldwide, confirmed The Commodores
as Motown's most successful act. |
